Ventura, CA – No one can deny the impressive look of a highly polished supercharger on top of a fire-breathing V8. Magna Charger has been selling polished superchargers for years, in fact a Magna Charger equipped street rod won the coveted Riddler award. The problem with polished aluminum is that it tends to oxidize fairly quickly, and requires frequent polishing to retain its brilliant shine. Magna Charger’s new series of Eaton® TVS® superchargers further exacerbated this maintenance issue with an intricate waffle pattern of strengthening ribs that is a nightmare to hand polish. So Magna Charger researched a new protective finish called Kroma Kote™ that has the appearance of highly polished aluminum, but requires no maintenance to keep it looking new for years to come.

Grounded in aerospace technology, the Kroma Kote™ process is based on Physical Vapor Deposition where a part is placed in a highly evacuated chamber. It is first coated with two primer coats of special powder coat that provide an extremely smooth surface. Then a binding metal such as nickel is applied to provide adhesion for the final metal coat that is pure aluminum. These coatings are formed by vaporizing the metals with a high-pressure inert gas stream. The metal vapor is electrically attracted to the supercharger in a very precise layer of metal. This layer of aluminum is extremely smooth and shiny. The supercharger components are then finish powder coated with a durable acrylic clear coat similar to that used on custom wheels. The resulting finish is smooth, bright and ultra durable. Magna Charger’s standard supercharger coatings are silver or black powder coat, and for the “old school” purists, a natural aluminum finish is also available.

A positive aspect of the Kroma Kote™ process is that it is a green, environmentally friendly process that has no toxic by-products. All that’s required to keep the finish looking new is mild soap and water – no harsh chemical cleaners are needed.
